Red Cable Sweater

So this is what I'm making with the Lorna's Laces that I bought.

I think the cable patterns on this Debbie Bliss sweater are gorgeous. This is from the Pure Silk Book. I'm substituting the silk for wool to make it suitable for cold weather. I love this "cranberry" colorway. Lorna's hand-dyed yarns are just lovely, I like the subtle variations in the color.

It's always fun starting new projects. Yesterday evening, I just couldn't wait any longer and cast on for the Orenburg shawl. I've been waiting until finally deciding on the right color. More on this later!

Thanks for all the nice comments from the last post.

The color I'm using is "cassis". The needles are Lantern Moon US5 12" ebony straights. I bought 4 ounces (1260yds) of it and so far, I used up about 300 yards.

Those of you who expressed interest in making one, you might find it quite monotonous after a few repeats, but don't let that discourage you! The pattern is simple but it's still very pretty and worth the effort. Good luck!

Speaking of Zephyr, I bought more on a recent trip to Philly. I got it from Rosie's Yarn Cellar on Locust Street. I might use this for the Orenburg Lace Triangle that I've been thinking about. I've mentioned this pattern before on previous posts, it's from the Summer 2000 issue of Interweave Knits.

I have so many projects in mind. I was at Purl the other day and bought a bunch of Lorna's Laces Shepherd Sport in "cranberry". I might use this for a cable sweater. I'm still thinking about it, so I'll talk more about it later.
